Rhinoplasty surgery can be a costly procedure, and it is not usually covered by health insurance. If you really want the surgery done now but simply don’t have the funds to pay American prices for it, you might consider having your surgery done overseas. This idea may sound a little extreme to some, but the reality is that plastic surgery can be less expensive if you're willing to go overseas.
There are plenty of perks to having your operation abroad. For starters, the overall cost of the procedure—even while factoring in the expenses for airfare, a brief hotel stay, and transportation—is likely to be cheaper than what you would pay at home. You also get the rare opportunity to experience another culture. Why not kill two birds with one stone and get your surgery done abroad? You might also consider that with an at-home recovery you have to endure the natural embarrassment of friends and family bearing witness as you heal. You might as well enjoy your recovery time seeing the sights in a foreign country where you couldn’t care less about whether a stranger stares at your healing nose.
Before planning to get a nose job abroad, you'll want to consider whether there is an additional risk to this option. There is no definite answer to this, as the quality of care in which you receive largely depends upon where you get your surgery done. Countries belonging to the EU (European Union) typically have lower medical fees yet they have fairly good guidelines regarding the quality of their health care. Alternatively, you could go outside of the EU to places such as Mexico, India, and Thailand for even cheaper prices.
As with any surgery, you should never allow yourself to make a decision based solely upon finances. Make an attempt to base your decision using a balance of cost and the surgeon’s reputation. Don’t be afraid to ask potential surgeons and hospitals to forward references or a portfolio of before-and-after photos.
Also be sure to ask about any fees in addition to the quoted price to make sure there are no hidden fees involved in the treatment and recovery. Once you have decided on a surgeon and hospital, you should double-check with your insurance company to make sure that they will be there for you should medical complications arise while you are overseas.
Getting a nose job abroad may not be for everyone, but the option is definitely worth consideration. Do some research and you may just find that you can have your nose job now without breaking the bank.
